Become a member of the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse Historical Society and help preserve and interpret America’s oldest surviving lighthouse on Lake Ontario for thousands of visitors who come to explore our site each year. With the acquisition of the historic U.S. Custom House, this story is being expanded to include the role Rochester played as a U.S. port of entry in the 19th and 20th centuries.
It’s been an amazing year at the Lighthouse Society! Thanks to our growing family of Lighthouse members, this past year we were able to secure grants to:
- Continue our restoration of the Keeper’s House south façade through restoration and preservation of the front door and sidelights, plus preservation of its stone entrance stairs.
- Complete measured drawings and layout sketches for the historic U.S. Custom House.
- Purchase a reproduction 4th Order Fresnel lens and period-appropriate pedestal for installation in the Tower’s lantern room.
Donate now and be a part of our 2014 season. This year’s big event will be the arrival and installation of the new lens, along with a celebration of the re-lighting of the Tower. Other upcoming events include the Irondequoit Band Concert, our annual Holiday Gift Shop Sale featuring members’ only special discounts, and more.
