Tour Guidelines
The Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse Historical Society Board of Trustees has adopted the following guidelines regarding touring the lighthouse facility, consisting of the Lighthouse Tower and Keeper’s House (museum):
* The facility is open to the Public for the 2025 season from MAY 2nd through October 26th, from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., on Friday, Saturday & Sunday (The last entry is 4:15 p.m.).
* No reservations are necessary except for groups larger than eight, who should call the Lighthouse at 585.621.6179 before their visit.
* Admission fees: Adults 18 years old and up pay $5.00; youth 5 to 17 years old pay $2.00; and children 4 years old and under pay FREE.
TOUR RULES FOR CLIMBING THE TOWER:
* Persons must wear proper shoes. Unsafe shoes, such as flip-flops, cannot climb the tower.
* Persons holding or carrying children using special restraints are prohibited because they could lose balance and fall.
* Persons with physical infirmities, health issues, or fear of heights are encouraged not to climb the tower. Inside the Keepers house is a Kiosk showing a video of someone climbing the tower.
* Once everyone is in the tower lantern room, the latch door must be closed to prevent accidental falls.
Children Concerns:
* They should be around four feet tall or taller. Shorter children might have problems seeing the panorama view. A tour guide will be there to help make a decision.
* A responsible adult must accompany them.
Bus Tours and other Commercial Tours:
Contact the Lighthouse several weeks before and set a date for the number of people coming. Admission Fees are the same as listed above.
Facility Rules:
* Lighthouse Keeper’s House (Museum) and Toweris open to visitors
* 2nd floor closed to visitors (Private Residence)
* The basement is closed to visitors
* The Lighthouse Keeper’s house (museum) and Tower are NOT wheelchair accessible.
* The grounds are FREE every day unless there is a special event.
