Tour

The Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse Historical Society Board of Trustees has adopted the following policy regarding touring the lighthouse facility; consisting of the lighthouse tower and Keeper’s House (museum):

  • Facility is open to the Public – See hours and admissions for current times.
  • Dates Open – See hours and admissions for current dates.
    1. Groups ideally shall consist of at least 10 people.
    2. A minimum of two weeks in advance is required to schedule a tour.
  • Adults 18 year old and up. $5.00
  • Youth 5 years to 17 years old, $2.00
  • 4 and under, FREE

Children must be:

  • 7 years of age or older
  • Over 4 ft. tall
  • Must be accompanied by a responsible adult/li>
  • Persons not wearing shoes or unsafe shoes, such as flip-flops, shall not be allowed to climb the tower./li>
  • Persons with physical infirmities, health issues or fear of heights are encouraged not to climb the tower./li>

Senior Adult Groups:

  • May be limited on climbing the tower at the discretion of the tower guide

Local Adult Groups and Clubs:

Fee – $5.00 per person payable at the time of reservation. The fee will be refunded if the tour is cancelled two (2) weeks before the reservation date.

Non Local Groups (Such as Elderhostel):

Fee – $5.00 per person payable at the time of reservation. The fee will be refunded if the tour is cancelled two (2) weeks before the tour reservation date.

Bus Tours and other Commercial Tours:

Fee – $5.00 per person payable and is non refundable. A count will be taken when the tour arrives and the tour company fee will be charged to reflect the extra tour members.

Facility Rules:

  • Lighthouse Keeper’s House (Museum)
  • Museum is open to visitors
  • 2nd floor closed to visitors (Private Residence)
  • Basement closed to visitors
  • The lighthouse keeper’s house (museum) is NOT wheelchair accessible.

Tower Guidelines for everyone:

  • The tower guide is responsible for the safety of visitors; therefore the tower guide is empowered to either close the tower or deny a visitor the opportunity to visit the tower.
  • Tower shall be closed during periods of wet weather and also when thunder and lightning are present.
  • Persons not wearing shoes or unsafe shoes, such as flip-flops, shall not be allowed to climb the tower.
  • Persons with physical infirmities, health issues or fear of heights are encouraged not to climb the tower.

Tower Guidelines for Children under 5 years old must be:

  • Over 4 ft. tall
  • Must be accompanied by a responsible adult
